1 April 2017: Reading Symphony Orchestra

On 1 April I’ll be playing 2nd Oboe in Petrushka with the Reading Symphony Orchestra. Details half-inched from their website and pasted below. It’s a great poster, isn’t it? I love the dancing skeleton.

20 June 2015: Reading Symphony Orchestra 70th Anniversary Gala Concert

Last concert for me this season, and it’s a biggie: the Reading Symphony Orchestra 70th Anniversary Gala Concert.

70th Anniversary Gala Concert

It’s a programme packed with everyone’s favourites (can’t beat a bit of Rachmaninov!) and the date for your diary is 20 June 2015, 7.30pm in the Great Hall at the University of Reading.

Find out how to buy tickets here.

17 May 2015 Reading Symphony Orchestra: The Children’s Concert – Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf

Peter and the Wolf

The second of my two forthcoming concerts will take place in Reading Minster on Sunday 17 May at 3.30pm with the Reading Symphony Orchestra, who have chosen Prokofiev’s ‘Peter and the Wolf’ for this year’s Children’s Concert. You can find details of how to purchase tickets on the RSO website.

If you’re not familiar with the story, you can find a list of the characters and their instruments here.

The duck, of course, is the only one to get eaten by the wolf, but because she is swallowed whole, she can still be heard singing from the wolf’s stomach when the story draws to its close.

Concerts in March 2015

I have two concerts coming up at the end of this month, the first on cor with the Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra as part of the Petersfield Music Festival:

Date: Saturday 21 March 2015

Venue: Petersfield Festival Hall, Heath Road, Petersfield GU31 4EA

Programme:
Vaughan Williams: Toward the Unknown Region
Elgar: Enigma Variations
Finzi: Intimations of Immortality

Tickets available online via the link above.

The second concert is with the Reading Symphony Orchestra on 28 March in the Great Hall on the London Road campus of the University of Reading. The concert poster showing details of how to book is available via the RSO link above or as a pdf here: RSOPosterMar15. The RSO will be joined by almost 40 members of the Orchester der Landesregierung Düsseldorf e.V. for this one, so it’s going to be a biggie.
Programme:
Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto no. 2 (yum!)
Strauss: An Alpine Symphony (also yum, but an absolute jawbreaker. Lips of steel required.)
