13th June at 6.30pm: RUMS Wantage Summer Concert feat. UoR’s Double Reed Choir

Every year, RUMS (or the Reading University Music Society) hosts its summer concert at Wantage Hall, featuring performances from the RUMS ensembles. This year the summer concert will take place at 6.30pm on 13th June.

There are (at least) six oboists studying and/or working at the University of Reading this year, so with these numbers it was possible to form a Double Reed Choir of sorts; we don’t have a bassoonist yet, but we do have two cor players and thanks to the work of arrangers such as Wonderful Winds, we’ve found plenty to be getting on with.

…plus me, of course.

On 13th June we will be performing two pieces: Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and Queen’s Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy arranged for oboe trio.

See you there and bring your own picnic!

    1. You’re very welcome – I’m very fond of both these arrangements, especially the Queen. If there is a video – and if it passes quality control (!!!) – I will certainly post it here. But there are two quite big ‘Ifs’ there, especially the second…
